Do you want to see Salvia banned? If the lawmakers in states across the US have their say then, within a few years, the whole of the US will have laws making Salvia banned. Oklahoma and Kansas are the latest States to fall foul of such laws. Possession, use and sale of Salvia in Kansas is now illegal.

Salvia is a naturally occurring hallucinogenic that is native to Mexico. Smoking or chewing the leaves of the herb (a close relative of the mint plant and a member of the Sage family) may induce mild hallucinations. The psychedelic experiences reported by Salvia users include out of body experiences and the merging with inanimate objects.

Salvia remains legal under US federal law and is widely available over the Internet in both is natural form and as a concentrated extract.

Whilst there is no medical evidence to suggest that Salvia is bad for its users, many States are starting to attempt to score political points by enacting laws that see Salvia banned. In fact some research is starting suggest that Salvia may have medical properties that would help the treatment of diseases like Alzheimer’s. A nationwide push to see Salvia banned would scupper the progress of research like this.
