Salvia Divinorum is a plant that occurs naturally in the hotter, drier climes of Mexico; it is part of the Sage family and is closely related to the Salvia plants that many people have growing in their gardens. What’s so special about Salvia Divinorum? It’s a hallucinogenic that is as potent as LSD but is legal in most US States; it is widely available on many Internet sites like SalviaDragon.com and even, in some locations, over the counter at tobacco stores.
Salvia Divinorum has, rather predictably, got legislators in a bit of a muddle and its fan base is growing rapidly.
Even scientists are starting to sing Salvia Divinorum’s praises and some – including Thomas Prisinzano, a University of Iowa professor in the division of medicinal and natural products chemistry. Prisinzano says of the drugs’ most active ingredient, Salvinorin A, “The field is really beginning to grow, and we are beginning to know and understand more of what [they] are able to do in the body.”, The drug could, it is claimed, have a positive effect on sufferers of Alzheimer’s and schizophrenia.
