Apple’s marketing plan for its 3g iPhone is slowly being leaked. Expected to be out by late June, the 3g iPhone will feature a number of improvements.

There are expected to be two main versions of the 3g iPhone with 8 gigabytes and 16 gigabytes of memory. The prices are expect to be $399 and $499.

AT&T is thought to be considering a deal whereby it subsidizes the cost of the 3g iPhone for new customers who sign up for a two year contract deal. The discounts are thought to amount to as much as $200 and would bring the 3g iPhone into the price realm of a lot more people than was previously possible. This move, AT&T will hope, will allow it to tempt customers from rivals like Verizon Wireless (VZ), Sprint (S) and T-Mobile (DT).

Apple will have to be careful not to repeat the last price-cut fiasco that they were involved in, when they annoyed a serious number of customers with a sudden, unannounced price cut.
