Strangely enough the designers of iPling have deigned it sensible to not go with the flow and to exclude iPling from the iPhone apps store; perhaps iPling is so good that it doesn’t need the extra marketing clout offered by the might Apple!

As I alluded to, my initial impressions of iPling are really good. This is the first of the iPhone apps that I’ve seen to really play on the social networking side of things while tailoring the app to those with 3G phones. You might think that there wouldn’t be a big enough market to make a social networking app worthwhile but with the number of 3G units already sold, this is clearly not the case.

The interface is daring and novel and I can confidently say that you’ll stay interested for a long while.

Phuket has everything, sun, sea, sand, restaurants and entertainment. It was in the rather fun Phuket bars that I lost most of my week. The local girls really like these bars, too. Every bar contains two or three gorgeous beauties out on their own. They seemed to really enjoy the company of us Western men, and a few even let me buy them a drink!

Trying to get around all the Phuket bars proved too much even for us; this despite all Phuket bars being clumped together mostly along one long road (there were other places where there were groups of bars together, but this one road really stood out) and so reducing the amount of walking required between them.

Even if you are not on a drinking holiday (which ours definitely was) then you’ll find something to keep you occupied in the Phuket bars: there is a wonderful party atmosphere everywhere that is completely infectious.

Prices in these bars a impressively cheap compared to back home and it was easy to see why people come back here year after year. What a great place!

There is so much variety of iPhone music downloads that you might well have trouble trying to find just what you want. After a quick read around the site I was soon in a position to download Ares and get cracking. YMCA by the village people is my all time favorite track and I was soon able to find that online and get downloading! For me to download Ares is quite feat of itself; for me to actually be able to use it once I’d got it is unprecedented!

There is also a rather excellent and entertaining news section on the site and a really helpful FAQ section. The FAQs not only helped me to download Ares but also to get it set up correctly on the Windows Vista that runs on my computer. I would’ve been absolutely stumped without that!

The news section has been bookmarked for future use simply because the writing is so entertaining – I’ve no particular interest in filesharing or P2P networking news, but I suspect the writers’ approach will soon have me wanting more.
