P2P filesharing has been turned on its head by the Ares software. Developed in 2002, Ares has gone from strength to strength and is now one of the leading lights in filesharing. It is currently one of the few filesharing programs that works reasonably reliably behind firewalls and on university networks.

Ares is the name of the NASA rocket that will take crew and cargo to the moon in the distant future of 2019. The rocket will be able to carry around 130 metric tons into low Earth orbit, and 65 tons further on to hit the moon.

The great man that spawned the name, the Greek God Ares, was a particularly nasty man. Rather than turn any particular technology or industry on its head he was more likely to separate heads from shoulders. Regarded even by the bloodthirsty, violent and sadistic Greeks as too slap-happy for their tastes, he was largely distrusted and disliked.
