Some brand names become synonymous with the product. Kleenex is the name for tissues; Hoover is a byword for vacuum cleaner. Once a product has been elevated to this status it can usually get by on this powerful branding. If the product is not up to scratch, though, it will get found out eventually.

So it is with Ares P2P filesharing software, where Ares Galaxy has long been the only real option.

For a while now, though, new versions of the software have started appearing that, in almost all respects, are much better than the original; that they haven’t had more exposure is more due to the strength of the Ares Galaxy name rather than their own shortcomings. Ares Ultra, Ares Ultimate, and Ares Vista are technically superior in every way to Ares Galaxy. They even have customer support which Ares Galaxy has never provided.

Not all new things are good, of course, and some of the new versions to stay away from are Ares Gold and Ares Destiny, both of which bundle Ares with adware. Apart from these bad apples it is clear that Ares Galaxy is simply a victim of time and of the technological improvements that passed it by.
